COVID-19 Response

The outbreak of COVID-19 in different parts of the world is a major concern for all the administrative units of respective countries. India is also facing this very tough task for controlling the virus outbreak and has managed its growth rate through some strict measures.

Darshna is reaching out to every age group, homeless and migrant daily wage labourers who are facing their toughest time right now. During the crisis, Organization supporting to 1350 villages over viz Districts: Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Panna and Orchha.

Awareness is key, especially in rural areas and interiors. We at Darshna have a 54 plus strong Mobile Healthcare Unit network and our teams have reached out to community members both in urban and rural India, through our wide network and making them aware of the safety and preventive measures they must take to protect themselves against COVID 19.

Despite the challenges now on ground with the lockdown, our teams subject to Govt. and local authority permissions are now doing the following:

1. Health care and Support government with the covid-19 emergency response and prevention:

  • Support in the quaratine and testing of migrants returning from towns
  • Play as a role of activist in COVID-19 and Aware community for home quarantined, frequent handwashing, stay safe, follow instructions given by government
  • Distribution of masks, soaps and sanitizers
  • Coordination with different departments- WCD, Health, Panchayats for better relief
  • Organization volunteers are sincerely working for the malnourished families or children and helping them to provide rations, foods, educating the hygiene practices and safety measures
  • Organization volunteers involved in closely monitoring at District or village levels to create awareness and fulfilling nutrition and protection needs of community members like as meals, grains and ration through the support of govt. Body system
  • Volunteers providing community level assesment, door to door awareness with front line extension workers: AWW,ASHA, Krishi Mitra

2. Distribution of masks, Sanitizers and Soaps:

Organization is continuous led to distribute PPE: Sanitizers, Soaps and masks in large coverage and counselled communities on how to use it to be safe and free from illness.

3. Community surveillance and mobilization to combat COVID-19: Project teams regularly use to create awareness through digitally, field visits and conference calls etc. and building knowledge in these terms:

  • Frequently hand washing with sanitizers, soaps and water for 40 sec or 70% alcohol based with 6 steps of hand washing
  • Maintain social distancing and practice at least 1 meter distance between yourself and others
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  • Practice good respiratory hygiene
  • Health and nutrition care

4. Assessment of Food availability:

  • Monitor the food availability situation at community level and other required support such as soap, health care requirements
  • Seek government support to get household food availability
  • Provide food packets for the malnourished families, vulnerable and migrants
  • Ensure the food availability at each and every house of the village

5. Ensuring Food Security:

  • Provide knowledge, advisory on food security and preservation through different IEC materials
  • Set up of Kitchen gardens for the diversified foods
  • Linking up with Food security schemes prevailed in India- ICDS, PDS and MDS and support in the deliverance and accessibility of services

6. Providing Livelihood Support:

  • Support to vulnerables in the linked up with MGNREGA, Rojgar Garuantee Scheme and development of job cards
  • Support labors to get wages in the village itself with the help of Gram Panchayat
  • Linking vulnerables to government run schemes and special relief packages
  • Share vidoes and success stories on livelihoods oppurtunities to motivate community

7. Agriculture Support:

  • Provide advisory, inputs and support on sustainable integrated farming system
  • Registration of farmers to sell their yields under MSP-Minimum Support Price scheme

8. Wash Improvements:

  • Create awareness on the use of tipi tape, handwashing, clean environment and prepare videos on improved wash practices and create awareness on the usage of supportive tool kit (Soaps, sanitizers. masks, gloves)
  • Efforts in safe drinking water: Motivate people to use safe drinking water, covered water and use of matka filter

9. Support in ICDS Services: Create awareness on screening, immunization, AWC services, mother and child care, diversified foods, THR avaialability, locally available food, PLA sessions, nutrition secuirty for healthy women and child

10. Child line team is helping in child protection by rescuing the children from vulnerable areas through daily outreach and serving the food to them

11. Organization is taking care of older ones of the District through the Old age home running by the Organization and curing them from coronavirus

12. Providing the accommodation and care to people who has been cropped in the District due to lock down, who do not have homes and poor, who lives in traffic areas or any open location through the in Rain Basera (Ashray Sthal) running by organization

13. Involvements in studies, analysis and grassroots assessment to monitor the COVID-19 situation at ground and its impact on the vulnerable, migrants, daily wage skilled/unskilled worker and families so that organize can deliver the services as based on the needs.
